The area has a wet tropical climate with a stable rainfall of 2.000-3.000 mm/year throughout the year. The average daily temperature in the lowland forest rarely exceeds 28 during the day and drops below 21 at night. It can however be very humid and sweaty before the often-daily afternoon rains starts. The wettest months are in general March to April and September to November. The driest months are February and June to July. On higher altitudes over 1.500 m. it can be quite cold in night time and over 3.000 even frost when its a clear night, i.e. the Kemiri and G. Leuser mountains. It can also rain a lot more than in the lowland.
